Tooth nightmare

Not very sure why, but there have been a few nightmares where I dream that some of my teeth fall out completely, or in last night’s dream, the front half of it chipped off, and I was trying to make it stick back in hopes it would magically become whole again.

When I was in Primary 5 or 6, I was playing at the playground when I chipped one of my front tooth slightly. It’s still slightly chipped today! I’ve always been traumatized by the possibility of losing my teeth. Maybe that’s why I stopped snacking and eating sweets for quite a number of years now.

Anyhow, just for kicks, I went online and see what dream interpretators would make of my dreams:

To dream that you have rotten or decaying teeth, forewarns that your health and/or business is in jeopardy. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.

I was sick for pretty much the large part of last month, but I’ve had such dreams even before that. I don’t think my health or business is in jeopardy.

Dreams of losing teeth are often dreams of embarrassment or potentially embarrassing situations. The parallel waking experience could be summed up in the phrase “losing face” publicly.

Other possible teeth-loss dreams may come from physical sensations such as grinding your teeth or having particularly sensitive teeth.

I guess ‘face’ in an Asian society is very important. Nobody would want to lose face right?

What I did find interesting about this one is, I have been told that I do grind my teeth when sleeping. Maybe that’s what’s causing it.

Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies?

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you mone?

I guess the concept of dream interpretation is rather vague. There’s so many varying kinds of answers that one is sure to find one that satisfy.

But it’s true. I do need to stop placing my trust and faith in the natural, and start standing on the solid rock, especially so in these times, where recession looms ahead, and even the US government can’t save their country.

I stand on solid rock.
On Christ the solid rock
All other grounds are sinking sand.
All other grounds are sinking sand.
So only, on Christ the Solid rock I stand.
