More Random Rants

Japan Home

The shop’s called Japan Home, but most of the stuff in it is made in China.

Shop Openings

This new food stall opened at Shunfu market, as seen by the number of flowers sent by well-wishes. Which did make me wonder, when one opens a flower shop, do well-wishes send flowers too? They do … so isn’t it weird ordering flowers from your competitors store to wish you well on your new store? Heh.

Harry Potter

I don’t think I really like the movie. I know they had to throw away a huge chunk of the book, but ‘the feel’ is just … not there. Others have been giving it great reviews though. I don’t know. Maybe my standards for movies have gone up again.

Of course it helps if you read the book only after you’ve seen the movie, but that wasn’t quite why I didn’t like the movie that much.

I just recently discovered that Adium can see custom msn icons after all. I mean they can be annoying and all, but when some people end up substituting words with pictures, being able to see them helps sentences make sense overall.

I’m tempted to get a bike license, and then get a bike. It’s such a cheap mode of transport compared to cars.

But my mum objects! (And curtis says he doesn’t mind me getting a bike, as long as I leave it at home!!)

Stock Market

Trying to learn more about the stock market. Wanna start trading after I get some capital.

If there are Seasons

If there are seasons

Going to catch this when it comes out in August. Apparently it’s written by the same guy who penned the music for ???.??. It’ll be my first time watching a local chinese musical, so I’m really looking forward to it.

p/s, it’s funny how they spelt subtitles wrongly. It randomly triggered an image of pirated dvds with bad english subtitles and spellings.

Boris Karloff The Mummy

Saw this VCD for sale at $5 at Laserflair AMK. They had the whole ancient collection like ‘Frankenstein’ and so on. I got this one cause it was one of the movies I had to write a paper on, back in college.

The concept of horror in those days, is no where near today’s definition. It’s not even scary! But in those days, the genre was pretty new, so anything was ‘scary’.

Time of your Life

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Was playing this song on my guitar the other day, and I didn’t really know the lyrics so I decided to look it up. For some reason, it seems fitting with the current stage of my life.

“Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)”

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the while

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It takes time to make a difference

The Pursuit of Happyness

Chris Gardner
[to his son]

You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t
do something themselves, they wanna tell you that
you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.

Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do
something. Not even me.

All right?

All right.
